Halloween Donuts
Ok, I'm going to keep it all the way real with you mamas. We don't celebrate halloween in our house. My kids are really young and I'm not entirely motivated to dress them up and knock on strangers doors and then have 10 tons of candy in my house. Talk about a tooth ache!
I do, however, love a good baking session. Inspired by halloween colors, we baked these really easy-to-make donuts.
Things You Will Need:
- Cake Mix, eggs, vegetable oil, water
-Orange Frosting
-Purple and Orange Sprinkles
-Oreos
-Mixing bowl
-Whisk
-Mini spatula
- Donut baking pan
Ok. You've gotten all of your supplies together? Let's get it.
Step 1. Set your oven to 350 degrees or to the heat level specified on the cake mix. While you wait for your oven to heat, mix eggs, oil, water and cake mix in bowl.
Step 2. Grease your donut baking pan with a little bit of oil to avoid sticking. Pour about 3 tbsp of batter into each mold. Don't put too much mix! Remember: the batter will rise once it starts to bake and you don't want it to over flow.
Step 3. Bake for about 18 mins.
Step 4. Ground up your Oreo cookies and set aside.
I like only a thin layer of frosting. To achieve this, I melt the frosting by heating in the microwave for 10 secs.
Step 5. Spread the frosting over the donuts.
Step 6. Use toppings on half of the donut so that the pretty orange frosting is still visible and creates a pretty Halloween-inspired color story.
I let my kiddos take over the decorating. I recommend you do the same! It was a MESS! But worth it- they had a blast. :)
And there you have it! I hope you enjoy! Until next time,
Alice, Eddy & mom.
